Clothing size converter
Pick what you know and read across. Then check the measurement, because brands disagree with each other more than the countries do.
The whole chart
Your size is highlighted.
How to use it
- Choose whether you are converting clothes or shoes, and whose.
- Pick the system you already know your size in, then your size. Everything else fills in.
- Check the measurement column against a garment that fits you. It is more reliable than any size label.

Questions
Are these conversions exact?
The conversions between national systems are standard, but garments are not. Two brands both labelled UK 12 can differ by a full size, and a brand’s own chart always beats a general one. Use the measurement columns where you can.
Why is a Japanese size smaller than my UK size?
Japanese clothing sizing is built around a different average body, so the numbers do not line up with European ones. Shoes are simpler: Japanese sizes are the foot length in centimetres.
Do you have charts for specific brands?
No, deliberately. Brand charts change between seasons and between a brand’s own regions, so a copy of one goes out of date quietly and sends people the wrong size. Check the brand’s own page, then use the measurements here as a sanity check.
How do I measure myself?
For a chest or bust, measure round the fullest part with the tape level and not pulled tight. For a foot, stand on paper, mark the heel and the longest toe, and measure between the marks. Do it at the end of the day, when feet are largest.
